Within the activities of the Grace initiative launched by Helwan University, Helwan University announced the Arab Youth Hackathon to combat corruption, and the university invites its students and graduates under the age of thirty to participate.
This competition comes within the framework of the Grace initiative launched by the university, under the auspices of Prof. El-Sayed Qandil, President of Helwan University, and supervised by Prof. Dr. Hanan Kamal, Rapporteur of the Anti-Corruption Committee at the university.
Dates for training and qualifying students for participation will be announced on the university’s colleges’ pages.
The Hackathon competition comes within the framework of the Global Initiative for Education and Youth Empowerment in the field of combating corruption, with the aim of investing the energies of youth, to innovate and develop technological solutions to problems related to corruption, in cooperation between the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime, the Qatari Administrative Control and Transparency Authority, and Microsoft Corporation.
The competition targets young software developers and IT enthusiasts from Arab countries, especially Egypt.
The competition consists of two phases. The first phase is the online training camp for a period of five days, which will be held from August 27 to 31, 2023. Participants will receive training on a number of topics, namely: transparency in public procurement, encouragement and protection of whistleblowers, protecting sports from corruption, Reporting corruption related to water management, strengthening the resilience of the private sector to corruption, innovation in education, and the second phase of a competition that will be held in Doha for five days from 10 to 14 September 2023.
The conditions of the competition are that the ages of the contestants range between 18 and 30 years, that they are fluent in Arabic and English, speaking and writing, that they have skills in programming languages and some experience in at least one of the development technologies, that they have knowledge of the main technology development platforms, that they have a device Laptop, you can apply as an individual participant or as a participant in a team of no more than 6 members.
